Civil Defence Academy

COL Firoz Ramjan currently serves as Director of the Civil Defence Academy (CDA), SCDF's premier training institution responsible for professional and specialised training in Disaster Management, Firefighting, Rescue, Hazmat Response & Mitigation, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Since joining SCDF in 2008, COL Firoz has held various command and staff appointments during his 17-year tenure:

  1. Commander, Sengkang Fire Station
  2. Head Operations, 4th SCDF Division
  3. Deputy Director (Training), Civil Defence Academy
  4. Commander, 1st SCDF Division
  5. Director, Civil Defence Academy (Current appointment since 1st May 2024)

In 2018, COL Firoz participated in overseas missions to Myanmar and Indonesia as part of the ASEAN Emergency Response & Assessment Team (ERAT). His leadership during these deployments demonstrated effective coordination of humanitarian assistance and disaster response efforts, particularly in orchestrating rapid resource deployment to affected communities.

At CDA, COL Firoz oversees the Emergency Responders' Fitness Conditioning and Enhancement Lab (ExCEL), an integrated research and development facility driving operational excellence through science-based initiatives. Under his leadership, significant research collaborations have been established with various partners. Through these initiatives, COL Firoz has strengthened CDA's position as a leading institution in emergency response training and research, fostering both local and international partnerships to enhance disaster preparedness and response capabilities.
