Prof. Charley Fleischmann is a seasoned fire engineering researcher and practitioner with more than 30 years of experience, specialising in fire modelling both experimentally and numerically with particular interest in compartment fire phenomena, including backdraft and flashover. As Principal Research Engineer at UL FSRI, and with prior experience as a professor at the University of Canterbury, Prof. Fleischmann has contributed extensively to fire protection engineering research and practice across academia and industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland, a Master's degree in Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of California, and is a Fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineering. A prolific researcher, Prof. Fleischmann is the author of more than 100 academic and professional publications and has delivered numerous invited and keynote presentations at conferences around the world.
