Professional Background

Chief Jaime Moore was appointed to the Los Angeles City Fire Department on May 8,
1995, at the age of 25. Over his thirty-year career, he has proudly served the people of
Los Angeles, holding the ranks of Firefighter, Captain, Battalion Chief, Assistant Chief,
and Deputy Chief. In 2023, he became the first Mexican American to serve as Deputy
Chief of Operations for the Valley Bureau, overseeing 39 fire stations and more than 1,100
firefighters. Chief Moore has also led Operations South Bureau and the Department’s first
Equity and Human Resources Bureau, demonstrating his leadership in operations,
innovation, and equity advancement within one of the nation’s largest and most complex
urban fire departments.

Education and Accomplishments
Chief Moore earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California,
Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Master of Science in Emergency Services Administration from
California State University, Long Beach. He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy’s
Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Program and holds the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation
from the Center for Public Safety Excellence. Chief Moore received the 2023 FEMA U.S.
Fire Administration Outstanding Research Award for his study on the effectiveness of
personnel performance appraisals in the LAFD. He is also a graduate of the USC Safe
Communities Executive Leadership Program and holds certificates from Cornell
University in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Conflict Resolution.

Specialized Training
Chief Moore was instrumental in leading the LAFD’s FireStat LA Section, implementing
data-driven management practices that improved operational performance citywide. As
Deputy Chief of the Equity and Human Resources Bureau, he integrated DEI principles
into recruitment, training, and leadership development across the Department. Chief
Moore is a California State-certified Fire Officer, Public Information Officer, Fire
Prevention Officer, and FEMA NIMS ICS All-Hazard Safety Officer, Liaison Officer, and
Public Information Officer. He has served as a National Fire Academy Lecturer and has
provided incident command and firefighting instruction internationally, including in Puebla
and Hermosillo, Mexico.

Personal Interests
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Chief Moore enjoys spending time with his
family and friends, as well as participating in various outdoor activities. Deeply committed
to community service, he previously served as a Director for the Harbor Connects
Neighborhood Relief Fund and currently serves on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club
of the San Fernando Valley. Chief Moore is proud of his profession but considers his
greatest achievement in life to be raising four amazing children with his wonderful wife.
